They may traditionally be seen in older properties or rural hideaways – but stable doors are making a comeback and are often being used to add a charming touch to more contemporary properties.
Originating in the Netherlands in the 17th century, stable doors are manufactured with four hinges that support an upper and lower panel. When the bottom sash is fastened securely, the top panel can be opened to provide additional ventilation and allow natural light into the room while preventing anyone from walking into your indoor space.
The beauty of stable doors is, they can also function as normal residential doors when both panels are locked together, so you get two design options in one.
